Utah Symphony 2012-13 Season

Music Director Thierry Fischer and Principal Pops Conductor Jerry Steichen announced the Utah Symphony’s complete 2012-2013 season, in which Fischer will again conduct 12 of the 18 Masterworks performances. Four of those performances will contribute to a complete Mendelssohn symphony cycle, and two more will compose a special Tchaikovsky Celebration including Tchaikovsky’s Symphony No. 5, Symphony No. 6 “Pathetique,” and Piano Concertos 1-3 featuring pianist Louis Lortie.

Other highlights of the season include world-famous Chinese pianist Lang Lang in recital, a second Masterworks commission world premiere (by composer Simon Holt) and a special performance of Romeo and Juliet-inspired music over Valentine’s weekend.
Steichen will conduct all five Entertainment Series performances and a Special Event performance of Ballroom with a Twist, featuring performers from popular television shows Dancing with the Stars, So You Think You Can Dance, and American Idol.
