The Cycle begins with a solemn tribute and an unabashed celebration of life. Utah Symphony commemorates the 10th anniversary of the September 11 tragedy with a performance of John Adams' deeply moving On the Transmigration of Souls. This affecting homage to the victims of that sad day is paired with the greatest affirmation of humanity in music history - Beethoven's Ode to Joy - as the countdown of his complete symphonies commences.
