Franz Schubert ~ Symphony No. 8 in B Minor "Unfinished" Felix Mendelssohn ~ Concerto No. 1 for Piano in G Minor, op. 25 Igor Stravinsky ~ Petrushka (1947 version)
Thierry Fischer, conductor Louis Lortie, piano
Welcome back Thierry Fischer as he conducts the Utah Symphony in a performance complete with one of Stravinsky’s most popular ballet scores (Petrushka), a Mendelssohn piano concerto where the piano enters unusually soon after the opening of the first movement (Piano Concerto No. 1), and Schubert’s “Unfinished” symphony (Symphony No. 8). Schubert's "Unfinished" was the first full symphony performed in Salt Lake City (in 1892).
