Zoltán Kodály ~ Dances of Galanta Sergei Sergeyevich Prokofiev ~ Concerto No. 3 for Piano in C major, op. 26 Béla Bartók ~ The Miraculous Mandarin, op. 19
Keith Lockhart, conductor Ilya Yakushev, piano
Russian pianist Ilya Yakushev will perform Prokofiev's Concerto No. 3 for Piano. Also hear Bartók’s thrilling ballet score, The Miraculous Mandarin. The work boasts some of the most harmonically and structurally complex music Bartók ever wrote.
NOTE: Pianist Olga Kern, who was originally scheduled to appear on the program, had to cancel and return to Moscow to be with her father, who has become very sick. The musicians and staff of the Utah Symphony send their thoughts to Ms. Kern and her family at this difficult time. For more information, please click here.
