Pablo Villegas performs Aranjuez with the Utah Symphony

Published in 15-16 Season

Classical Music’s Guitar Hero

Immerse yourself in the beauty of Red Butte Garden and experience the talent of the Utah Symphony, one of only 15 full-time professional orchestras in the United States. Associate Conductor Rei Hotoda leads the orchestra in a program of light classics and audience favorites including Joaquín Rodrigo’s Concierto de Aranjuez performed by Pablo Villegas. Rodrigo once said that his concerto, inspired by the gardens at Palacio Real de Aranjuez near Madrid, “is meant to sound like the hidden breeze that stirs the treetops in the parks.” Rodrigo’s masterpiece for orchestra and classical guitar will transport your mind to another time and place as it evokes the sounds of nature, in nature.

Milos, previously scheduled to perform on this program, has had to withdraw.

Milos has been suffering from a hand injury and the recovery process is taking longer than originally envisaged.  He has been advised to refrain from playing for the next three months which unfortunately means he must cancel his performance in Salt Lake City.  He is, however, making good progress and plans to return to the concert platform in the autumn of this year.  He appreciates everyone's understanding of his situation and is very sorry to disappoint the Salt Lake City audience.
