The results are in – 2010 “Fan Favorites” Series
For the past three weeks, our Facebook Fans and Twitter Followers have been voting to put together a ‘Fan Favorites’ season ticket package. On Friday, the Twitter Followers finishing their round of voting and choose the March 25 – 26, 2011 performance of Mozart Symphony No. 40 as the fourth concert in the series (it narrowly won over Barber’s Violin Concerto). It’s easy to see why this performance would be popular – not only is Mozart’s Symphony No. 40 one of his most popular symphonies, but the concert also includes Mozart’s Overture to The Magic Flute, Hindemith’s Mathis der Maler, and our Principal Clarinet Tad Calcara performing Mozart’s Clarinet Concerto.
So, here is the final lineup for our 2010-11 “Fan Favorites” Mini-Season
- September 24 – 25, 2010 – Tchaikovsky’s Violin Concerto
- October 8 – 9, 2010 – Rhapsody on a Theme of Paganini
- March 25 – 26, 2011 – Mozart Symphony No. 40
- May 27 – 28, 2011 – The Rite of Spring
Thanks to everyone who voted! I don’t know if any other orchestras have every tried letting their Facebook Fans and Twitter Followers vote and put together a season ticket package, but I know it’s the first time we’ve tried it. I was happy to see so much participation and conversation about it online. Hopefully we can make this an annual tradition.
