The results are in – 2010 “Fan Favorites” Series

March 22nd, 2010 by Jon Miles

For the past three weeks, our Facebook Fans and Twitter Followers have been voting to put together a ‘Fan Favorites’ season ticket package. On Friday, the Twitter Followers finishing their round of voting and choose the March 25 – 26, 2011 performance of Mozart Symphony No. 40 as the fourth concert in the series (it narrowly won over Barber’s Violin Concerto). It’s easy to see why this performance would be popular – not only is Mozart’s Symphony No. 40 one of his most popular symphonies, but the concert also includes Mozart’s Overture to The Magic Flute, Hindemith’s Mathis der Maler, and our Principal Clarinet Tad Calcara performing Mozart’s Clarinet Concerto.

So, here is the final lineup for our 2010-11 “Fan Favorites” Mini-Season

Thanks to everyone who voted! I don’t know if any other orchestras have every tried letting their Facebook Fans and Twitter Followers vote and put together a season ticket package, but I know it’s the first time we’ve tried it. I was happy to see so much participation and conversation about it online. Hopefully we can make this an annual tradition.

Season tickets for the “Fan Favorites” series will go on sale to current student subscribers and Design-A-Series subscribers on April 26, 2010. New subscribers will have the chance to purchase season tickets starting on May 11, 2010. For more information, call the USUO ticket office at 801-533-NOTE (6683).
