‘Fan Favorites’ Mini-Series: Round One
The first round of voting for our “Fan Favorites” Mini-Series is complete! Hundreds of votes were cast from our Facebook Fans, and they’ve chosen the first three performances for our 2010 “Fan Favorites” series:
- Tchaikovsky’s Violin Concerto, September 24 – 25, 2010: The first performance of the season for our new Maestro. Hilary Hahn is performing the concerto. Also included on the program are two pieces by Stravinsky – Fireworks and The Firebird.
- Rhapsody on a Theme of Paganini, October 8 – 9, 2010: Mario Venzago will conduct with pianist Horacio Gutiérrez performing Rachmaninoff’s piece. The program also includes Sibelius’ Lemminkaeinen and the Maidens of the Island and Finlandia, and Schumann’s Symphony No. 4.
- The Rite of Spring, May 27 – 28, 2011: This concert also features Maestro Fischer as conductor and includes Ives’ Three Places in New England and Strauss’ Four Last Songs. Soprano Janice Chandler Eteme will join the orchestra for this performance.
Today we’ll put up a poll on Twitter.com to let our Twitter followers choose the fourth Masterworks concert for the four-concert series. If you aren’t already following us on Twitter, visit twitter.com/usuo to follow Utah Symphony | Utah Opera and vote. Voting will end this week, which will give us time to put the series into the season calendar brochure that we’re printing later this month.
