Utah Symphony’s free summer concerts

June 2nd, 2009 by Jon Miles

Each summer, the Utah Symphony tours around Salt Lake County presenting free concerts to thank the residents for their support. We just received the dates and programs for this summer, and there are some exciting concerts including music from Holst’s The Planets (Mars and Jupiter, of course), the 1812 Overture, selections from Star Wars, and many other fun pieces. As I mentioned, all these concerts are free!

June 29 – Taylorsville
June 30 – West Valley City
July 8 – Abravanel Hall
July 15 – Sandy

How do you get tickets for these events? I tried calling the box office and they didn’t know who to call about these events.

Most of the events are not ticketed because they are free. The Abravanel Hall concert will have free tickets available at a later date.

Looking forward to catching one of these.

I love the Utah Symphony, and Utah Opera, and concerts such as these, but why must they leave out St. George and the rest of southern Utah? People such as myself must travel 300 miles to see fantastic group like the Utah Symphony. Definitely worth the drive, but I’d love to see them here in St. George.

    Hi Austin,

The Utah Symphony performs annually in Cedar City and tours Southern Utah. This year’s Cedar City performance will be on October 2nd. There is more information on the Heritage Center website: http://www.heritagectr.org/index.htm

I know that our opera artists have also come down to Southern Utah this past season. I’ll pass along your comments and we’ll do a better job at getting word out about these performances through our website and blog. Thanks!
