Henning Kraggerud’s encore

October 14th, 2008 by Jon Miles

For those of you who I promised I’d find out the name of the piece Henning Kraggerud performed on Saturday night for his encore, I haven’t forgotten! I’m still working on it and I’ll post an update on the blog as soon as I know.

Last weekend’s concert (Land of the Midnight Music) was AMAZING! I’m still excited about it. The third movement of Schumann’s Symphony No. 2 has to be one of the most beautiful pieces of music I’ve ever heard in Abravanel Hall, and I loved watching Hannu Lintu conduct - especiallyTill Eulenspiegel’s lustige Streiche. Last season, I went to a concert and discovered Rachmaninoff’s Isle of the Dead, which became one of my favorite pieces I heard last year. Till Eulenspiegel’s is another one of those pieces I had never heard before and liked enough to downloaded on iTunes as soon as I got home.

This weekend we have two great performances. Last time I checked, Madame Butterfly was almost sold out for Saturday night, but there are plenty of tickets available for this weekend’s Marvin Hamlisch concert.

I’ll update this post when I know the name of the encore piece.
