Who wants to be an opera star?

August 26th, 2008 by Jon Miles

I just learned as much about Opera in 45 minutes as I have in the entire time I’ve worked here - and had fun doing it!

Each year, the Utah Opera apprentices travel to over 200 elementary schools throughout Utah to teach them about Opera. They do it with a show called “Who wants to be an Opera star?” which is put together by our education department. I didn’t realize how fun the show was to watch. The staff was invited to come to their ‘dress rehearsal’ for this year’s show today to give the apprentices an audience before they start traveling out to the schools. Everyone was laughing and having a good time watching the performance. It was a good way to spend lunch and got me excited for the Opera season to start again in October.
