Getting ready for the Deer Valley Music Festival!

July 17th, 2008 by Jon Miles

Anyone else excited about the Deer Valley Music Festival? This will be my first festival, and there are quite a few performances I’m excited to see.

I’ve always been a Beatles fan and have been listening to a lot of Beatles music on the Across the Universe soundtrack lately. That’s one reason why I was stoked when I learned that the Utah Symphony would be performing with Classical Mystery Tour this summer (next Saturday!). It’s hard to pick a favorite concert in advance, but it’s the concert I’m most excited about. Everyone I’ve talked to who has seen this group perform has loved them, and I know that many of the Symphony musicians are excited to perform with them again.

Another group I’m really looking forward to hearing is Time for Three. People who saw them last summer have raved about how cool and fun they were to watch. I’ll be attending the Friday Classical concert they’re doing with Keith Lockhart and the Utah Symphony, and afterward I’ll party with Vivace at Red Rock, Park City.

There are other concerts I’m excited about also - Gladys Knight, Georgia Guitar Quartet, Carnival of Animals, and many others. Like I said, it’s hard to pick a favorite. I’m planning on attending as many as I can!

Are there any Deer Valley Music Festival performances you’re getting excited about?

This is my first time going to the Deer Valley Music Festival as well, and I am most excited for the Carnival of Animals that is being performed at Temple Har Shalom. When I was a little girl my mother would play Camille Saint Seans all the time and we would act like the different animals that you can hear in this piece of music. Since then it has become a favorite of mine and this will be the first time I get to hear it live!
