Tough Night at the Office.

December 15th, 2007 by admin

Whew! Tough night at the office. The Tchaikovsky Symphony no. 1 is one of those pieces where the trumpet player’s job is to be accurate and in tune while trying not to be overbearing. That is difficult task when over 300 of my notes were written above the staff (high notes). Today my facial muscles are sore and I have cuts inside my cheeks. As for the the choral piece, as much as I enjoy playing large works, I always find it funny how loud and crowded it is on stage. The trumpet section is knocking knees, and I have to keep slouched in my chair to keep the chorus members behind me from bonking my head with their books! One more time tonight, and I rest up for pops week. Maybe I’ll ask Santa for a week off!
